If I had my life
to live over again,
I would have made a rule to read some poetry and listen to some music
at least once a week; for perhaps the parts of my brain now atrophied would thus have been
kept active through use.
The loss of these tastes is a loss of happiness,
and may possibly be injurious to the intellect,
and more probably to the moral character,
by enfeebling the emotional part of our nature.
CHARLES DARWIN (1809 -
1882)
AMADEUS MUSIC SCHOOL
The school started with 15 students and now numbers over one hundred
who are taught by a team of teachers (carefully selected and trained
by Ms. Sudargo herself) in the following programs:
 | Classes for violin, viola, cello and piano for aged as low as 3 |
 | Music theory |
 | Pre-school classes, that combines play with music lessons for
children up to age 5. |
 |
 |

Master Class from visiting
foreign artists or tutors, to open their mind. |
 |
 |
Instrument
practices, theory classes, concerts, as part of educational programs at Amadeus Music
School. |

In all matters of the schools activities, be it
management, curricular subjects, performing, parent-teacher relations, etc., the
importance of team-work is emphasized. Examinations are held every year to promote
students to the next level of proficiency.
To maintain high standards of quality, Ms. Sudargo (the principal) recruits adjudicators
from among others Germany and Austria. The link with these two (and other) countries is
highly valued as it provides a channel through which highly talented students are enabled
to continue studies abroad. Former students are presently pursuing music studies in
Germany and the US. Their return to Indonesia as performers and/or teachers ensures
further development of classical music in this country.
